Hi there. Here it is another Monday and this time I didn't miss one. It would have been easy as right now, two of my grandsons ages 2 and 3 are here visiting and they can keep us both very busy. Often too busy to add another post, but I found a couple of minutes to quickly put down a few words.

Today I mostly want to talk about Covid-19. Here in Canada there are a few who are saying that we are into our second wave. There are provinces where the number of cases might indicate that a second wave is upon us, but we also need to look at the number of deaths as well. The death rate now is so low that using that data as the only metric, we are definitely not in a second wave.

Governments however like to keep the people scared and therefore pliable. Saying we are in a second wave makes it sound much worse than what it really is and that will allow further restrictions on the people who voted them into power.

My big question is simple, "What is the end game?" The only thing I can gather from what is happening is a simple continuation of what all elected governments are there for. They are only elected for a short period of time and their number one job is to make sure they get re-elected. They can use the corona virus to make themselves look good and the only way to do that is to scare the people who vote for them and then make it look as if they are doing the best they can to keep us all safe. 

In reality what they are doing is putting restrictions on the very people they are there to help in a situation where they are very questionable. If no one is dying, (almost no one), is there really a pandemic.

 Hi there. Monday morning already and I missed the last one so thought I had better put a few words down even if there isn't much to say today. I have had a busy couple of weeks, but not because of any writing and in this case, I haven't been reading much either. I am just getting started on the book 'Little Women' and I'm finding it a little hard to get into.

What we have been doing is a lot of looking after our 2 year old grandson. He's lots of fun and has so much energy that at the end of a few hours he goes home and leaves us drained. He might even have a nap while he's with us and we are still tired. I wish I had half his energy. I would have my next book written and then some.

We did get one night of camping, or maybe it's better said, one night of sleeping in a tent. It was a cool night but we survived nicely and feel that we can do it more often. Had a nice trip with some good hikes and the tent worked.

Still lots of Covid-19 in the news as the cases seem to be going up here at home and in many places around the world. The government is still talking tough, but they don't seem to be looking at the data. The cases might be going up, but the number of people dying is staying very low. If no one is dying, is it still a pandemic. 

Face masks are becoming the norm everywhere it seems and the cases are still going up. Is there a correlation? Are the masks slowing the spread down or in fact doing nothing or worse, speeding it up? Time might tell.

Hi there. Another couple of Mondays have gone by and I just now find time to write a few words. This blog is as inconsistent as hell, but it is what I have.

Not doing much writing these days. Just not in the mood. Still selling a bunch of stuff on EBAY. This time it is my collection of non-sports trading cards. I have 97 auctions up as of this moment, but will have over 150 by the end of the week.  Just getting rid of a bunch of stuff that I no longer want.

I think it might be a long winter this year. with this covid nonsense still going on, it doesn't sound like we will be going anywhere soon. That will make it long in itself, but there is also the fact that for the last 13 years we have missed most of the cold weather makes me not look to forward to spending much of this winter at home.

On the bright side, my oldest son is expecting their second child in November and my younger son will be heading to Mexico soon to stay for a few months. I am envious of him and not necessarily the lack of sleep the other will be getting. Still will be good to meet our fourth grandson.

I still hope to have the fourth book in the Tannion series published this year, but it will probably end up being 2021 before it happens. Not much drive to get it done with no sales. I also have eleven other books I would like to publish including my fantasy trilogy, but they are all on hold. Maybe one day if I live long enough.

Hi there. It's August already and except for the last few days, we haven't had a lot of heat here. You won't ever hear me complaining about the heat as I hate the cold, but it hasn't cooled down much at night and that means, with no air conditioning, it is a little warm in our bedroom. Being in August however only means that winter is that much closer. Bring on more heat.

I have finished another two chapters of 'Bentley' the spin off novel from the Tannion Series. Now almost 50 thousand words and counting. I might actually get it written by the end of the year. I am still hoping to get the fourth book in the Tannion Series published this year, but it is still on hold.

Of course I would like to sell a few more books which would make it easier to spend money on publishing, but that isn't happening. I hope to spend a few advertisement dollars in the near future and see how that goes.

Corona virus still has us all in its grips and much to my dismay, our mayor has decided that wearing a mask in all public places is good for us and will keep us from catching the flu. Again I'm being treated like a ten year old who can't look after himself. The thing I don't understand is how the mask went from being not a good idea because it causes you to touch your face more often, to the only thing that will keep us safe. Time to vote out a mayor, but I'm not sure who holds the majority.

Hope to go for a long bike ride today after a long walk yesterday. Selling a few things on EBAY as well and working a little on my genealogy which means I am keeping busy. Hope this finds you in the same boat.

Hi there. Another week in the books and this time I found enough time to say a few words. There are still only two things in the news and Covid-19 still leads. As we get a second wave here, our mayor decides in his wisdom that we need to have mandatory masks anywhere indoors. Needless to say I am not a fan.

I do believe that the virus isn't something to be played with or ignored, and I agree that social distancing and staying home if you are sick are good ideas and masks in tight confined areas can be a good idea as well, but once again, I need to be treated like a child and told what to do.

Masks may keep you from spitting on others and others from spitting into your mouth, but how close are we standing in the supermarket. How many times have I seen people with masks on, reach up and pull it down, adjust it, pull it up, or in one case, reach inside to make it more comfortable. Considering that, in my opinion, your hands are probably where the virus will be spread from, they contaminated their masks and increased the likelihood of catching the disease.

But no, our powers to be need to treat us all as children who are not capable of assessing the risk and taking the appropriate steps. If our health care system was in trouble, I might see this differently, but we have almost no one in an ICU.

Enough rant for now. I have been heading towards the conclusion of Bentley, the spin off novel from the Tannion series that I have been working on. Still far from the end, but it's coming together nicely. Publication of the fourth book in the Tannion series is on hold for a while. Not sure when, but still thinking this year, but it might be pushed to next year. Not a concern really as no one is waiting to read it except maybe my mother.

Hi there. Again it has been two weeks between posts. Just can't seem to get to it every week. Not that I'm that busy all the time, but this time I did have a bit of an excuse. I've been selling things on EBAY and Monday was packaging and shipping day last week. Posting here slipped my mind.

Covid-19 has still taken over the world and increasing in many parts especially for our neighbors to the south. Masks have become a big issue that separates us as if we needed more to do that. We can be separated enough by politics, religion, race etc that we really don't need to be split by whether we prefer to wear a mask or not.

Having said that, (my wife hates when I say that), I don't like the idea of a mask. In my opinion, they have the potential to do more harm than good. They have been proven not to be that effective, but mostly they are known to cause you to touch your face more often. This is something I have witnessed many many times as people are adjusting their masks. Still it is your decision and if your preference is to wear a mask, that is your right and I have no reason to say anything against that.

Now to writing. I have added three more chapters to my next book 'Bentley'. I know what has to happen at the end of the book, but only recently have I figured out how to get there. My mind isn't set completely yet, but it is getting closer. Like all my books as I am writing them, they are a work in progress and not designed to fit any template. My fingers will tell me what to do as they touch the keys. Either that or it will come to me just after I head for bed at night.

Hi there. With everything going on here, I skipped a week but I'm back. The past few days have been busy but not with writing. I have been selling things on EBAY. I have bought and sold several items before, but this time I have had as many as one hundred items for sell at a time. They are old toys that our kids grew out of and the grand kids don't like.

It has been fun watching the bidding and seeing the final result but mostly because these toys are selling for so much more than I thought they would so if you find you have a bunch of old toys from the 1980s, they might be worth something.

I am currently reading a book I found on amazon for free called House of Magic by Malia Ann Haberman. It is a young adult fantasy, but I am finding it interesting. About half way through and should have it done in the next few days.

Still living with Covid-19 around, but still not living in fear. Here in Canada we have it under some form of control unlike other parts of the world. Masks can be seen in stores, but not to a extent some places have, probably as a result of how few cases there are each day. Hope it ends soon.

I am waiting for the NHL hockey season to start back up, but I am already disappointed. It appears they are jumping into playoffs only without finishing the regular season which I understand because of time restraints. I am disappointed because I watch the stats more than the games and there are a number of players withing striking distance of milestone stats that they won't reach and that's too bad. Probably won't watch much.
